What do I need to bring?
Certified birth certificates, Social Security numbers, proof of residency, and if previously married, a filed copy of the final judgment of divorce, legal annulment or certified death certificate must be shown at the time of application.
How To Apply:
When applying for a marriage license at the Racine County Clerk’s office, applicants will be required to present government-issued photo I.D. such as a driver’s license, certified copies of each applicant's birth certificates, and proof of residency. Applicants will also need to provide Social Security numbers. If either applicant was previously married,a signed copy of the divorce decree ora certified copy of your previous spouse’s death certificate.
When does It Expire:
Your marriage license will expire 30 days from the day that the license is issued.
Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Wisconsin does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
