What do I need to bring?

Applicants must present a certified copy of their Birth Certificate, applicants Social Security numbers and the application must be made in the county where one party has resided for at least 30 days. If either applicant was previously married, copies of judgment of divorce, legal annulment papers, or death certificates from previous marriage must be presented.

How To Apply:

Applicants must provide certified birth certificates, Social Security numbers and proof of residency. If either applicant was previously married, you must show proof of how your last marriage ended. Signed copies of judgment of divorce, court annulment papers, or a certified copy of the spouse’s death certificate must be provided.

When does It Expire:

The license is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and the marriage must be performed within that period.

Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Wisconsin does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
