How much is it?

$60 in cash or checks, no credit and no debit cards are accepted. Payment is due upon application and is non-refundable.

What do I need to bring?

Certified birth certificate, government issued photo ID, Social Security number, proof of residency, and if previously married, you will need to show a certified copy of the final divorce decree, with court raised seal, of your divorce or annulment decree or a signed death certificate of deceased spouse.

How To Apply:

Both applicants are required to present certified birth certificates, government issued photo ID, Social Security numbers, government document showing residency for the past 30 days, and provide the date and place of marriage ceremony and full name and title of the officiant. If either applicant was previously married, a divorce decree and death certificate of deceased spouse.

When does It Expire:

License is valid for 30 days from issuance date.

Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Wisconsin does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
