How much is it?
$75.00 Check, money order, credit card (Mastercard, American Express or Discover) or cash on the date of the application is required. No refunds are given.
What do I need to bring?
Both applicants must provide a government issued ID containing date of birth, and permanent address. Applicants must also provide Social Security numbers. If either applicant was previously married, a copy of the divorce decree or death certificate of spouse must be presented.
How To Apply:
Proof of age of each individual, at least 18 years of age at the time of the marriage. Acceptable documents for proof of age are a valid driver’s license or a certified copy of a birth certificate. Both applicants must provide Social Security numbers and document providing proof of permanent address. If either applicant was previously married, a signed copy of a divorce decree or death certificate of spouse.
When does It Expire:
The license is valid for 30 days after date of issuance. If 30 days should pass a new application must be completed.
Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Wisconsin does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
