What do I need to bring?

Identification, and Social Security number. If either applicant was previously married, the MM/DD/YYYY, county and state (or Country) must be provided for EACH divorce or death.



How To Apply:

One of the parties, to be married, must appear in person at the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for the county in which the wedding will take place to make an application. Identification of applicants, and Social Security number is required. If either applicant was previously married, the MM/DD/YYYY, county and state (or Country) must be provided for EACH divorce or death.



When does It Expire:

The license is valid for a period of 6 months.

Filing for a marriage license in the state of Maryland does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
