How To Apply:
Both parties must be present and bring valid photo identification. Both parties will be asked a number of questions in order to complete the marriage license application. This process takes approximately 15 minutes.
When does It Expire:
The marriage license expires in 60 days after the date of issue. You must be married in the county where the license is issued, regardless of your county of residence.
Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Illinois does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
