A government issued picture ID. If previously married, a a certified death certificate or certified copies of divorce decrees are required.
How To Apply:
Both parties must be present when applying for the license. A government issued identiication(valid driver's license, State ID or valid Passport) is required. If previously married, a certified death certificate is required is spoused deceased, certified copies of divorce decrees are required if applicant divorced.
When does It Expire:
The license expires sixty (60) days after it becomes effective.
Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Illinois does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
