New Jersey issues their marriage licenses at the town or borough level. To obtain a marriage license, both of you must appear at the Registrar of Vital Statistics in the town where one of you lives. If neither of you are from New Jersey, you must apply for a marriage license in the town where you wish to get married. During our research, we picked a town from each city to find out information about how to apply for a marriage license. To get you started, all marriage licenses in New Jersey are $28. There is a 3 day waiting period, so plan ahead!  Also, in some counties, marriage licenses are only valid for 30 days.
