$115 (check, cash or money order only) but $40 if the couple has obtained pre-marital education as per Minnesota Statute.



What do I need to bring?

Certified birth certificate, valid U.S. Government issued pictured ID card and valid Social Security CARD



How To Apply:

Both of the applicants must be present to complete the application. Applicants do not have to be residents of Aitkin County or of Minnesota. The "legal custodial" parent(s) must give consent and appeal to the courts for authorization for their child who has reached the age of 16, but is under the age of 18 years of age to marry. A Minnesota marriage license can only be used within the geographical boundaries of Minnesota.

Filing for a marriage license in the state of Minnesota does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
