How much is it?

There is a $30.00 fee (fee varies from County to County). Cash, Check, Visa and Mastercard are acceptable forms of payment.

What do I need to bring?

A government issued picture ID, State of birth, address, and Social Security number. If previously married, it is required to provide the County, State, Month, Day, and Year for every divorce or death of spouse with appropriate support documents.

Both parties must appear to make application. A photo id and Social security numbers for both applicants are required. if previously married, the name of the County, State, Month, Day, and Year for every divorce or death of spouse with appropriate support documents.

When does It Expire:

The license is issued the same day you apply, and it is valid for 6 months (you must be married within 6 months or the license will expire)

Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Maryland does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
