How To Apply:
Applicants are required to present at least one ID, which includes date of birth (preferably driver's license) for each party, must be presented at the time license is applied for. Also, if either applicant has previously been married, he/she must state how that marriage ended, i.e. death or divorce, and provide the date on which it occurred.
When does It Expire:
The license is void 60 days after the effective date.
Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Illinois does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
