What do I need to bring?
Applicants must show two proofs of age -- one must be a certified copy of the birth certificate (issued by the county, state or country of birth – no photocopies or hospital records) or a valid passport along with one of the following: valid driver’s license, state I.D., draft cards, firearms registration, application for insurance, military I.D. or other documents showing date of birth.
How To Apply:
Applicants must show two proofs of age. If previous marriage was dissolved by divorce, certified copies of the Final Judgment of Dissolution are required.
When does It Expire:
The license is valid for 60 days after the effective date.
Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Illinois does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
