3 Delaware Marriage License Filing Tips
Planning a wedding in Delaware? Don’t forget to apply for your marriage license before you walk down the aisle! Follow our tips for a smooth marriage license filing process in any of the three counties of the “First State.”
Tip 1: Hit the ATM
The county clerk’s offices in Delaware only accept cash payments for marriage license application processing. If you are a Delaware resident the fee is $50, but if you live out-of-state the fee is $100. *Please note that marriage licenses are only valid for 30 days, so time your application accordingly!
Tip 2: You’re In This Together
To file for your marriage license, both individuals intending to be married must apply in-person at the office. Most offices are open from 8:00am to 4:15pm, so depending on your location, you may be able to apply prior to work or on your lunch break.
Tip 3: Make It Official
Before a Delaware marriage license can be issued, you and your fiance will need to show your birth certificates, government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or U.S. passport) along with your complete marriage license application form.
Now that you have the inside scoop on the application filing process and time line, you can focus on all of the other aspects of planning your life together! We wish you love, laughter, and happily ever after as newlyweds!
