Current driver's license or state ID, certified birth certificates, social security cards or numbers for both parties



How To Apply:

One can either apply online or in person. If one chooses to apply online, there is a $3.00 fee. After pressing submit on the application, there will be an order number to bring into the clerk's office. One will have to appear at the clerks office with the order number, current state license or ID, social security cards or numbers and birth certificates for both applicants. The other option is to download the application, fill it out and bring it into the clerk's office with all the required materials to bring in.

Name Change:
Filing for a marriage license in the state of Michigan does not cause your or your spouse’s last name to automatically change. Married name change services are available to guide you through the married name change process if you opt to change your name.
